Cooperation Agreement between the FWO (Flandern, Belgium) and the FNR
On 16 December 2009, the Research Foundation (FWO), Flanders, and the Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR), Luxembourg, signed an agreement on the joint funding of research projects
Researchers at Flemish universities and research institutes are invited to submit a proposal with a partner from Luxembourg, within the framework of the regular call for FWO research projects.
Call Information:
The proposal is submitted simultaneously to FWO and FNR, following the regulations of the respective funding organisation. In addition to this, researchers from Luxembourg submit to FNR a detailed budget for the research activities planned in Luxembourg, according to the financial regulations of FNR.
FWO acts as the lead agency. This means that the proposal will be evaluated by the relevant international FWO expert panel, and that FNR accepts the results of the evaluation. FNR will carry out an additional administrative control of the proposals received.
If the proposal is funded, FNR will financially support the part of the research project undertaken in Luxembourg and FWO will support the Flemish teams.
Flemish researchers submitting a proposal in the framework of this agreement are requested to clearly indicate that their proposal falls under this agreement, in the section provided for this in the file with additional information (“indicate foreign co-promoters”), to be uploaded in the online submission module.
These projects are subject to the same rules and regulations as all other research projects funded by FWO.
Submission Deadline
The deadline for submission is fixed on 1st April of each year.
