Summary

The project mainly aims at improving the knowledge about the state of health of the Luxembourgish population and its determinants under the angle of the social health inequalities. It is based on two principal research orientations:

  1. the analysis of the state of health of the population and
  1. the analysis of the health system, being interdependent. The objectives of the project are mainly:
  • a) to improve knowledge of the social differentiation of mortality, morbidity and, in general, of health;
  • b) to apprehend the social inequalities regarding use of care;
  • c) to apprehend the social inequalities of health at certain periods of life (teenager, adult and seniors);
  • d) to provide key health indicators for purposes of follow-up of progress / regressions recorded according to the implemented health policies or international comparisons, etc;
  • e) to improve and develop the available data in order to offer help to various interested actors (students, researchers, health professionals and administrators) for the decision-making and working tools. The methodological approach is based on a triple analytical perspective: descriptive, explanatory and predictive analyses. The data to be used come from the various national and hospital administrative sources, from international sources and surveys PSELL3 / EU-SILC about incomes and the living conditions of the households carried out by the CEPS/INSTEAD. The main activities planned in 2009 were conducted. Various research papers have been written and the results were presented both in Luxembourg and abroad (see contributions conferences).
