Summary
VALCOS is a research project focused on “Values and social cohesion”. The objective is to analyze the relation between these two concepts.
This central question will be treated in seven different chapters:
- (1) Integration and solidarity
- (2) Reconciliation between family and work
- (3) Work, economy and social justice
- (4) Democracy and citizenship
- (5) Economic agents’ behavior: which roles for values?
- (6) Generations and social cohesion
- (7) Religion and believes. Most part of the work was to elaborate a common measure of social cohesion based on Bernard’s integrated scheme (1999).
This measure was created based on the data from 1999 and on the basis of 33 European countries. The work was also concentrated on further analyses of the EVS questionnaire from 1999 and 2008 for Luxembourg regarding the above mentioned topics.
