Contact at the FNR: Dr Carlo Duprel

The FNR and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, France) have signed a bilateral agreement setting the terms for funding collaborative projects between researchers from France and Luxembourg. CNRS and FNR provide researchers with three instruments for the support of international collaboration:

International Programmes for Scientific Cooperations (PICS)

A PICS is a joint research project carried out by researchers from the CNRS and from the Luxembourg public research sector. Funding for exchanges and other expenses required by the cooperation is granted by both organizations.

The FNR limits its support to 36 P/M of staff costs (1 additional PhD student may be integrated in the project). Major equipment will not be funded. All other expenses will be covered upon justification.

Call deadline: 31st March every year.

European Associated Laboratories (LEA)

An LEA/LIA is a “laboratory without walls” that brings together teams from CRNS and from Luxembourg enhancing a closer cooperation on jointly defined projects. Human and material resources are pooled to carry out the project. Teams or laboratories associated through an LEA maintain their separate autonomy, status, director and location.

The LEA is jointly managed, with revolving or simultaneous co-principal investigators, and has a scientific evaluation committee.

Eligible costs are expenses for mobility and training fees. The FNR support is limited to the same amount as that of the CNRS.

The Call is open all year.

European Research Networks (GDRE)

A GDRE is a network of researchers from CNRS, Luxembourg and other countries. The goal of the network which is managed by a scientific committee is to bring together a range of academic and industrial partners. Eligible costs are expenses for mobility and training fees.

The FNR support is limited to the same amount as that of the CNRS.

The Call is open all year.
