Summary
The SERVICeABLE project proposes to develop knowledge and solutions for leveraging New Service Development (NSD) processes to the case of Research and Technology Organizations (RTOs) whose mission relates to the sustainable development and governance of innovative, value-creating ICT-empowered services. This research addresses organizational design, services innovation capabilities and governance issues of RTOs, taking into consideration their internal specificities such as the organization size as well as their situational factors, i.e. their interactions with both their institutional and economical environments.
From this perspective, the SERVICeABLE project aims at studying NSD practices of successful European RTOs in order to reveal knowledge about service innovation capabilities “dynamization” processes. In order to do so, The research will rely on exploratory, comparative case-studies of NSD models and corporate innovation governance practices of selected European RTOs. This identification will be done in the framework of the European Association of RTOs (EARTO) that will provide expertise in the cases selection and will promote the practical outputs of the project. Moreover, the scientific outputs of the project will be monitored and validated by a Scientific Committee composed by international experts regarding SERVICeABLE issues.
Consequently, we have identified numerous expected results and findings of the SERVICeABLE’s research: (i) Scientific publications and doctoral training regarding organisational innovation capabilities and the development of new services (ii) Empirical data regarding RTOs corporate governance and innovation management practices (iii) RTO’s corporate governance models (iv) Methods for IT services design and transformation from research prototypes (v) Theoretical contributions to the emerging discipline of Services Science regarding service business design, knowledge governance and organizational design issues
