The FNR is pleased to inform that applications for the ‘Grand Prix en Sciences de l’Institut Grand-Ducal 2018’ are now being accepted. The 2018 prize, endowed with 5000 EUR, will be awarded in the domain of biology and is named ‘Prix Cactus’ after its sponsor. Deadline for applications is Saturday, 31 March 2018.
In cooperation with several private sponsors, the “Section des Sciences naturelles, physiques et mathématiques de l’Institut Grand-ducal” since 2010, each year awards a researcher either their complete work or an exceptional discovery in the fields of biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics and physics.
To be eligible for the award, the researcher must be a Luxembourgish national or a researcher working or having worked in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg with the major part of their scientific work and international publications done in the Grand-Duchy. The prize is currently endowed with 5000 EUR and is awarded during an academic session at the end of the year.
How to apply
All applications, year by year, must be submitted each year by 31 March latest, by postal and electronic mail to:

The application must contain an application letter, a complete curriculum vitae of the candidate as well as a document describing the work and the results that are to be considered by the jury. The regulation of the Grands Prix en Sciences de l’Institut Grand-ducal can be viewed on the Institut Grand Ducal website.
The prize will be awarded on Saturday, 17 November 2018 at 17:00 at the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg.
