The FNR is pleased to announce that the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) has launched a joint trans-national call for multinational research projects for pathway analysis. Deadline for pre-proposals is Tuesday, 6 March 2018, 23:59 CET.
The FNR supports this Call through its INTER programme and will contribute up to 500,000 EUR, which is expected to fund up to 2 projects. Luxembourg is among 20 countries participating in this Call.
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease are a global health, economic and social emergency. More than 40 million people worldwide are estimated to be living with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders – the most common class of neurodegenerative disease – and this figure is expected to significantly increase in the coming decades.
Tackling Parkinson’s disease is also a priority identified and supported by the FNR, most notably through NCER-PD, a national centre of excellence in research in Parkinson’s Disease. NCER-PD launched in 2015, with an 8 MEUR FNR grant for the first 4 years of the study.
