In order to position Luxembourg as an international research hub, the LCSB organizes a bi-annual International Parkinson´s Disease Symposium. The first symposium was held in 2011. The 11th Annual Meeting of the GEoPD Consortium & 3rd International Parkinson´s Disease Symposium took place from 5 to 8 October, hosted at the Maison du Savoir in Esch sur Alzette, Luxembourg. The main objective of this conference organized jointly by the GEoPD Consortium and Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg was to bring together worldwide distinguished academics in the field of neuroscience to exchange about state-of-the-art research and technologies.Topics were bridging from fundamental research to clinical Parkinson´s disease in the fields of connectivity and exactibility, mitochondrial, protein aggregation and degradation, innovations and technological developments and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.The conference featured leading organizations from academia, industry, hospitals, patient organizations and healthcare, including University of Oxford, Roche, Parkinson Luxembourg association, Juntendo University, St. Olavs Hospital, Radboud University, Seoul National University Hospital, University Hospital Erlangen, Griffith University, Association of Physiotherapists in PD Europe, Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg and many more. Speakers discussed their current work, where the field is going, opportunities for future research.Having the three days event allowed for networking and establishing future collaborations between LCSB and external partners coming from other universities, that otherwise would not have happened.
