This years’ annual ECRIN meeting is an important one for ECRIN as it is the first conference being held under the official status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC). This joint event being organised by CIEC and CRP-Santé is an excellent opportunity to promote the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and its clinical research activities. Working sessions were held for the 9 working packages of ECRIN. The challenges of clinical research are not restricted to a single country, thus transnational communication on clinical trials requires initiation and co-ordination by a transnational organisation, with the objective to facilitate better clinical research, relevant to the needs of patients everywhere. The objective is to make the International Clinical Trials’ Day a focal point for international communication events, meetings, debates, and celebrations of clinical research. Every year ECRIN hosts a celebration of ICTD in a European city. The International Clinical Trials’ Day was followed by the ECRAN Project Meeting (Wednesday, 21 May). The ECRAN (European Communication on Research Awareness Needs) project aims are to improve the EU citizens’ knowledge about medical research, and to support their participation in independent and multinational clinical trials. Simple and easy communication material and tools developed by the ECRAN project are: – a website in six language, with an inventory of resources available in 23 languages researchable for example by topic, author, and media type; – a serious/educational game developed in 6 languages to capture the interest of young European citizens and students;- a Media section dedicated to journalists to disseminate the contents of the ECRAN project uniformly across countries- an interactive sibling web page Testing Treatments InteractiveAll the material and tools are available at the website of the project: http://ecranproject.euThe European Commission funded in 2012 the ECRAN project.
