Submitted Abstract

The project “Health in Old Age: A Study on the Interplay of Economic and Individual Influences” aims at (1) combining the individual and economic perspective on health to provide an integrative model of health in old age, at (2) differentiating the impact of individual and economic variables on health in different stages of old age, and at (3) making recommendations for individuals at risk and drawing attention to economic influences on health. These objectives will be achieved via analyses of SHARE and HRS data sets in combination with economic variables by the OCDE. Integrative literature searches, multilevel and structural equation modelling as well as meta-analyses will be conducted, thus providing a multidisciplinary view on economic and individual influences on health in old age.The 3-year grant comprises a main project part of 24 months carried out at the home institution with a mobility part of 12 months to a receiving institution in a different research field in another country. Scientists in charge are respectively Prof. Dr Dieter Ferring at the UL and Prof. Dr. Johan Mackenbach at the EMC.
