Submitted Abstract

Project goal is the development of a self-learning Soft Sensor (SS) based on vibroacoustic sensors and data-analysis, for monitoring, controlling and troubleshooting of heads for Abrasive Waterjet Cutting (AWC). The tool is installed on commercial heads. It self-calibrates and operates autonomously, without technical support. Once installed, it delivers innovative and smart heads that upgrade AWC -automation and -robustness to the excellence of Industry 4.0. The added value is a higher competitiveness of AWC. The limited cost of the SS ensures a quick return on investment. Intellectual property granted to University of Luxembourg (patent application LU100936, no other parties involved, invention disclosure ref. No. KTT-180027). First business model in vision is integration of SS into a commercial product and its licensing to producers; alternatively, starting up service company providing SS installation into production lines of manufacturers.
