Training: How to design a hands-on workshop for a lay audience?

Do you plan to submit a proposal for a workshop at the Researchers’ Days or Science Festival? The FNR is organising an interactive training session for researchers and science communicators, with tips and tricks on how to present research through fun, hands-on science activities. The session will take place on Tuesday 8 July 2025

Science Festivals, Researchers’ Days, Open Days… There are numerous occasions when the general public is invited to interact with researchers. What defines a successful science workshop? How can you catch the public’s attention? How do you explain your research to a lay audience?

In this science communication training, we will present best practices from past events and provide you with ideas on communicating your work through fun, engaging, and easily understandable workshops for the general public. The training is particularly aimed at those who have never held a scientific workshop at Science Festival or Researchers’ Days before.
