On Monday, 10 November 2025, NWO and FNR held an online session about the WEAVE initiative and new collaboration opportunities between Dutch and Luxembourg researchers. Slides now available. As of summer 2025, the FNR and NWO-ENW (The Netherlands) are running a pilot call where either can be the lead agency. Bilateral proposals may be submitted to the NWO-ENW M1 call or the FNR CORE call.
View slidesThe NWO-ENW M1 call opened in August 2025 and proposals can be submitted at any time. The current round is closing once 375 proposals (in total) have been received by the NWO-ENW or no later than 31 July 2026.
Accordingly to the NWO-ENW M1 call, the idea is for the respective senior PI to apply for 1 PhD or 1 Postdoc position in their group and some additional budget. Please note that PIs are not eligible to apply for funding of their own Postdoc position.
Independent if applicants chose NWO as lead-agency (NWO-ENW M1 call) or the FNR (CORE call), the proposals have to:
- the topic must fit in the NWO Domain Science, and
- the Dutch research team is composed of one senior applicant (asking for 1 position, PhD or Postdoc).
- Please note that proposals that fall within the remit of ZonMW calls and the NWO-ENW XL call still must be submitted in the Netherlands as lead agency.
