BACK TO RESEARCH WITH IMPACT: FNR HIGHLIGHTS
During a lunch break, PEARL Chair Jordi Cabot from the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) shares his perspective on software development, research, and impact. In a relaxed conversation, he explains how his PEARL-funded project explores new ways to design software that respond to today’s needs, from the shortage of developers to the growing role of artificial intelligence. This is the first video in the new “Lunch Break” series, which will feature conversations with PEARL Chairs and ATTRACT Fellows.

Over a coffee, PEARL Chair Jordi Cabot speaks with Didier Goossens (FNR) about his path into research and the challenges facing software development today. They discuss why new approaches are needed and how research can help make software design more accessible.
The BESSER (BEtter Smart Software fastER) project focuses on low-code and no-code approaches to software development, aiming to support both developers and non-developers while keeping humans in the loop.
This research is supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) through a PEARL grant.
With the PEARL programme, the FNR offers Luxembourg research institutions attractive funding to enable them to draw established and internationally recognised researchers to Luxembourg. Through the recruitment of outstanding scientists in strategically important areas, the FNR aims to accelerate the development and strengthening of Luxembourg’s national research priorities.
