Science Festival 2021: Call for Proposals!
Following the great success of past Science Festival events, the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) and the FNR are pleased to announce the 13th edition of the leading event in promoting science in Luxembourg: The Science Festival will be held in the surroundings of Neimënster and the exhibition galleries of the National Museum of National History in Luxembourg-Grund from 11 to 14 November 2021. Proposals for science workshops are accepted until 1 March 2021.
FNR Awards 2020: A digital celebration of science & research in Luxembourg
For the 12th time, the FNR held the FNR Awards – the annual celebration of science and research in Luxembourg. For obvious reasons, the normal physical event was simply not possible this year, but this did not stop the celebration from taking place! A solution was found and the event was shifted to 100% digital for the first time. Seven FNR Awards were presented across four categories.

FNR Awards Ceremony: 2020 FNR Awards go digital
The 2020 FNR Awards Ceremony will take place in a 100% digital format. Join us in our annual celebration of science and research in Luxembourg, via a stream on Thursday, 19 November 2020 from 19:00 CET.
FNR Science Image Competition: exhibition
Following the FNR Science Image Competition, first organised in 2019 on the occasion of the FNR’s 20th anniversary, the awarded photos can now be discovered at an exhibition in Luxembourg City! The campaign has multiple aims: to show the growing role of images in scientific research, to reveal how scientific work is conducted, to give a face to the researchers conducting it and to present various ways to engage the public with science.

Virtual Chalcogenide PV Conference 2020
To keep scientific discussions and knowledge exchange in the community alive, the first Virtual Chalcogenide PV Conference (vCPVC 2020) from 25 to 28 May 2020 will be hosted by the Helmholtz Centrum Berlin The virtual conference (free of charge) is co-organised by FNR ATTRACT Fellow Alex Redinger, associate professor at the University of Luxembourg in the Physics and Materials Science Research Unit.

Alpbach Summer School 2020 – postponed to 2021
The 44th edition of the Summer School Alpbach is planned from 14 to 23 July 2020, the topic of the 2020 edition is ‘Comparative Plasma Physics in the Universe’. Registrations are open for science and engineering students and graduates (Master, PhD and Postdoc level), with the FNR providing financial support for selected PhDs and Postdocs.
