The FNR is pleased to announce its participation in the M-ERA.NET Call 2026 that is launched on 4 March 2026. 34 funding agencies participate with an indicative budget of about 39 MEUR. Deadline for pre-proposals is 12 May 2026. An information webinar will take place on 18 March.

The FNR supports with call with 350,000 EUR as part of the INTER programme to foster international collaboration.
The Call 2026 aims to fund ambitious transnational research and innovation on advanced materials and addresses the following thematic areas:
- Materials for energy storage and distribution systems
- Materials for energy conversion
- Innovative surfaces, coatings and interfaces
- Innovative functional materials with defined architectures
- Materials addressing environmental challenges
- Next generation materials for electronics
Transnational projects funded by M-ERA.NET are expected to contribute to the European Green Deal and to support the Sustainable Development Goals. They combine materials research with industrial needs by stimulating new products and production processes and will develop synergies that can be very effective in strengthening the European advanced materials ecosystem.
Call schedule
- The M-ERA.NET 2026 call opened on 4th March 2026.
- On 18th March from 12:00 (CET) M-ERA.NET will organise a call 2026 online webinar for applicants. More information will follow, please check the M-ERA.NET Call 2026 for registration.
- Deadline for mandatory pre-proposals is 12th May 2026 (12:00 noon / Brussels time).
- Deadline for mandatory full-proposals is 18th November 2026 (12:00 noon / Brussels time).

In addition to the M-ERA.NET call documents, Luxembourg applicants need to submit the FNR INTER documents via the FNR Online Grant Management System no more than 7 days after the M-ERA.NET call deadline. Applicants will need to provide basic information and attach the proposal (including all further relevant documents) based on the form provided by the M-ERA.NET call.
