The 2023 Industrial Fellowships call is now open, with a deadline of 21 April 2023, 14:00 CET. Please note there is only one Industrial Fellowships call in 2023.

The Industrial Fellowships programme awards PhD and Postdoc grants to researchers who carry out their PhD and/or postdoc training in collaboration with a company in Luxembourg.

INTERnational cooperation: 70 New COST Actions

On 19 May 2025, COST’s governing board, the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO), confirmed the funding of 70 new COST Actions, that will officially start in Autumn 2025. HPC-AI BRIDGES: Launch of a new call for projects to boost innovation in the fields of High-Performance Computing and AI

The Ministry of the Economy and the National Research Fund (FNR), together with Luxinnovation, are launching a new joint call for projects in the fields of high-performance computing (HPC) and/or artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to support companies and public research institutions working on projects in these domains. Deadline for Phase 1 is 18 June 2025, deadline for Phase 2 is 17 September 2025.

FNR PEARL Chair awarded to Vincent Lenders

The FNR is pleased to share that an FNR PEARL Chair endowed with 3.5 MEUR has been awarded to Dr Vincent Lenders, who will take up a position as Full Professor for cybersecurity at the University of Luxembourg’s SnT. With the PEARL funding, Dr Lenners will create the Systems and Network Security (SNS) research group that will initially focus on securing critical infrastructures against cyber threats.

JUMP: Results 2024-2 Call

The FNR is pleased to announce that 4 of 7 proposals have been retained for funding in the 2024-2 JUMP Call (tech), an FNR commitment of 1 MEUR. The FNR’s JUMP programme aims to bridge the technical and funding gap between research-driven discoveries and their commercialisation/ utilisation, thereby enhancing the impact of Luxembourg’s research on the economy and society. JUMP IN, a dedicated initiation and networking event designed exclusively for 2024 JUMP grantees, will take place on 22 April 2025 at the University of Luxembourg Incubator.

Results LuxAid BRIDGES 2024 Call

The FNR is pleased to communicate that 4 of 11 projects have been retained for funding in the LuxAid BRIDGES Call. LuxAid BRIDGES is a joint call between the FNR, the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFEA) and the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency LuxDev.

Call for candidates: 2025 Grand Prix en Sciences de l’Institut Grand-Ducal – Prize in physics

Since 2010, the Section of natural sciences, physics and mathematics of the Institut grand-ducal has awarded each year a researcher for either their complete work or an exceptional discovery in the fields of biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics and physics. To be eligible for the award, the researcher must be of Luxembourgish nationality or a researcher working or having worked in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg with the major part of his/her scientific work and international publications done in the Grand-Duchy. The prize is endowed with 5.000 EUR and is awarded during an academic session at the end of the year. Deadline: 31 march 2025.
