2022 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting – three young scientists from Luxembourg selected to attend

The FNR is pleased to announce that three young promising researchers from Luxembourg are among the 600 young scientists selected by the Lindau Selection Committee to attend the annual Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. The 2022 Meeting, dedicated to chemistry, takes place from 26 June – 1 July in Lindau, Germany.

The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings take place every year since 1951 and are designed as a forum for exchange, networking and inspiration. In Lindau, excellent young researchers meet the most acclaimed scientists of their field.

The young scientists selected for 2022 are outstanding undergraduate students, graduate students and post-docs under the age of 35, conducting research in the field of chemistry. They have successfully passed a multi-stage international selection process. More than 130 academic partners worldwide – academies, universities and foundations – nominated the candidates for participation.

The three candidates from Luxembourg, who successfully passed a multi-step international selection process (incl. a pre-selection by the FNR), and whose attendance is co-funded by the FNR, are:

Adil Kabylda

Adil is in the first year of his PhD in Prof Alexandre Tkatchenko‘s laboratory, supported by the FNR AFR programme. His PhD project focusses on the development of machine learning methods that accurately describe long-range interactions that are crucial for modelling large molecules.

Kim Greis

Kim is a third year PhD candidate at Free University Berlin and Fritz Haber Institute, funded by the FNR AFR programme. He studies the structure of reactive intermediates using cryogenic gas-phase ion infrared spectroscopy. The gained knowledge leads to a deeper understanding of chemical reactions, such as the glycosylation reaction.

Kim Greis has been featured in Spotlight on Young Researchers – read more.

Wieland Goetzke

Wieland Goetzke is a synthetic organic chemist by training and has just started postdoctoral research in chemical biology at Scripps Research Institute. At Scripps, he uses an interdisciplinary approach combining organic synthesis and chemoproteomics to target and study proteins that are relevant for human health.

About the 2022 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

The 71st Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is dedicated to Chemistry. Young scientists who were selected for #LINO70 from the field of Chemistry and took part in the digital meeting are invited to participate on-site from 26 June – 1 July 2022. Additionaly, a new application process was proceeded in autumn 2021, the young scientists selected in this process will also travel to Lindau.
