Grand Prix En Science Luxembourg-Lorraine: CORE project awarded

The Grand Prix en Sciences Lorraine-Luxembourg is awarded jointly by the Section des Sciences of the Institut grand-ducal de Luxembourg and l’Académie Lorraine des Sciences and is intended to highlight scientific cooperation between Luxembourg and Lorraine. Dr C. Christos Soukoulis (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Luxembourg) and Prof. Claire Gaiani (University of Lorraine) have been awarded for outcomes of a project funded by the FNR’s CORE project.

The awardees of the first edition of the Grand Prix are the research groups of Dr C. Christos Soukoulis (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Luxembourg) and Prof. Claire Gaiani (University of Lorraine) for a scientific work published in the journal Food Hydrocolloids and which focuses on the exploitation of plant seed mucilage in the development of protein based xero-scaffolds embedding human gut relevant probiotic cells. The joint publication presents results of the PROCEED project, supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) via the CORE programme.

Held at the Auditorium Cité on 13 March 2024, the award was presented in the presence of around 100 guests from Luxembourg and Lorraine and which featured speeches by leading figures from science, academia and public authorities: Prof. Lucien Hoffmann (President of the Section des Sciences of the Institut Grand-ducal de Luxembourg), Prof. Jean-Dominique de Korwin (President of the Académie Lorraine des Sciences), Dr Marie-Claude Marx (Programme Manager at the Luxembourg National Research Fund), Prof. Hélène Boulanger (President of the University of Lorraine), Prof. Jens Kreisel (Rector of the University of Luxembourg), Mr Mathieu Klein (President of the Greater Nancy Metropolitan Area), and Her Excellency Claire Lignières-Counathe (Ambassador of France to Luxembourg).
